Terms of Service

Thistle School of Motoring ("we", "us", "our") provides driving tuition services. By booking lessons or using our website, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. About our services

We provide driving lessons and related tuition services. Lessons are delivered by a qualified instructor in an insured dual-controlled vehicle (where applicable). We aim to deliver training that supports safe, confident driving and preparation for UK driving tests.

2. Eligibility

You must hold a valid UK provisional driving licence (or an appropriate licence permitting you to take lessons) and bring it when requested.
You must meet the legal eyesight requirements for driving and disclose any condition that may affect safe driving.
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should be involved in bookings and communications.

3. Booking and lesson duration

Lesson times and durations are agreed in advance (for example, 1 hour, 2 hours, block bookings, refresher lessons, motorway lessons, or Pass Plus).
Pick-up and drop-off locations must be within the areas we serve and agreed at the time of booking.
We may need to rearrange a lesson due to traffic, vehicle issues, severe weather, illness, or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. If this happens, we will offer an alternative time.

4. Payments

Lesson prices are as quoted at the time of booking. Prices may change, but any change will not affect lessons already paid for.
Payment methods and timing (for example, before the lesson, on the day, or in advance for block bookings) will be confirmed when you book.
Block booking discounts apply only where stated and are non-transferable unless we agree otherwise.

5. Cancellations and rescheduling

We understand plans change. To keep things fair, the following applies:

Learner cancellations: Please give at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or rearrange a lesson. Cancellations with less notice may be charged in full.
Instructor cancellations: If we cancel a lesson, you will not be charged and we will offer a suitable alternative date and time.
No-shows: If you do not attend at the agreed time and location, the lesson may be charged in full.

6. Lesson conduct and safety

You must not drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that may impair driving. If we suspect impairment, the lesson will not proceed and may be charged.
Abusive, aggressive, or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated. We may end a lesson early if needed for safety.
You must follow the instructor’s reasonable directions relating to safety and the safe operation of the vehicle.
You are responsible for any fines or penalties caused by your actions where legally applicable.

7. Use of the instructor’s car for driving tests

Use of the instructor’s car for a practical test is subject to availability and the instructor’s assessment that you are test-ready and can drive safely and legally.
Test-day arrangements (including a pre-test warm-up lesson) and any additional fees will be confirmed in advance.
If the test is cancelled by you with insufficient notice, charges may apply where a lesson slot has been reserved.

8. Refunds

Refunds for pre-paid lessons may be offered at our discretion, taking into account any lessons already delivered and any cancellation charges that apply.
Block bookings may be refunded only for unused hours, minus any discount already received and any applicable fees.

9. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve the issue promptly and fairly.

10. Website use

Website content is provided for general information and may be updated at any time.
You must not misuse the website, attempt to gain unauthorised access, or introduce viruses or harmful code.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. We are not responsible for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control. Our total liability for any claim arising from lessons or website use will be limited to the amount paid for the relevant service, unless the law requires otherwise.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
